Maybe you knew and hated me back in those old days. I wouldn't blame you. I used to work at a big commercial bank, and I was often unhappy. If I spread some of my own misery in your direction, I'm unable to take it back now; but, I'm sorry, nonetheless.
I started to drift away from usenet at about the time I started a blog. Apparently that was August, 2006. Back then, blogger wasn't a thing. It was blogspot. My blog was entitled New Model Revolution, and it rapidly became far more popular than I ever first imagined.
Blogspot was bought by Google. Usenet became Google Groups. If AOL marked the beginning of the demise of the internet's golden age, Google nailed the coffin shut. In the interim, I achieved a much needed divorce, freedom from tobacco, a couple of extra degrees, and started working a job that paid less, but was a lot less stressful.
I bought this domain name on 17 October, 2015, during the Brackenridge Conference at the University of Texas. I moved my registration to Google the following February. Sometimes, you just have to make deals with the devil. The first thing I published was months later. It is, by far, the most popular article I have here. It is also, statistically speaking, probably the reason for your visit.
I'm (in)famous for being the mathematician who taught the philosophy grad students how to cheat their comprehensive exams. There are plenty of people who hate me for that, today. No. I don't blame any of y'all. I'm still not taking it down.
If you came to this blog to learn how to run the numbers, then here you go:
Around 2017, I got sick of the time-sink which was social media, and decided to revert to a platform that didn't commodify my every interaction. Today, very little of the internet resembles its early anarchic framework. I can't get back to usenet. I last tried around 2009. The quality contributors are long since replaced by floods of weird porn and spam. I can, however, start blogging again. So I will.
I wish I had more to tell you. Ultimately, I'm still the same boring guy you remember, and probably hate.
